Hi OpenManus team,
I have an idea that could significantly improve accessibility and usability for both new and advanced users:
What if OpenManus included a built-in, specialized local language model, pre-tuned for agentic browser automation and workflow reasoning?
Why This Could Be a Game-Changer
Privacy and Accessibility:
Many users prefer not to set up third-party API keys or send data to cloud LLM providers. A local, default model means agent automation “just works” out of the box—no extra steps, no privacy worries.
Lower Barrier for New Users:
Beginners (or those with limited access to APIs) could run OpenManus complete with an “agent brain” without any complicated configuration or signups, boosting adoption and onboarding.
Specialized Skills:
A model fine-tuned on web automation, tool use, and multi-step action plans would be more effective at guiding agentic workflows and handling real-world browser scenarios than generic LLMs.
Empowering Developers:
Developers and researchers could prototype and test advanced automations without recurring costs or dependency on external services, driving more innovation and customization in the OpenManus ecosystem.
Why Now?
With tools like Ollama, Llama 3, and open fine-tuning frameworks, it’s increasingly practical to train or distill small, task-focused models. Even a compact LLM (100–300M parameters) tailored for automation logic would make a huge difference compared to requiring cloud models for every user.
How This Fits OpenManus’s Mission
Boosts privacy, openness, and control.
Reduces reliance on third-party services.
Makes powerful automation tech more inclusive—especially for students, researchers, and developers in resource-constrained settings.
