Thank you! Now I have run the skyculture - converter tool on hevelius folder and found many issues. Luckily, not a single showstopper though, since the original culture is only containing constellation art, so most warnings were just ignored or corrected (constellation abbreviations with constellation names, special characters). All in all, Hevelius now works again in Stellarium, with 74 illustrations, just as in the original folder. The only missing point is that, when all the cultures are listed in Stellarium Sky Culture, this folder appears as "# Hevelius". Why is that? How can I make it listed just as the other cultures, no "#" in front of its name? For convenience, I have included the conversion log, and the new convertered Hevelius folder, including the json file hevelius.zip. Many thanks for your hard and excellent work! |

This wonderful sky culture used to be present in previous versions of Stellarium. Now it disappearead. So I downloaded the popular version by Mark Crossley from (https://stellarium.org/lv/skycultures-list.html) and unzip it into user's directory sky cultures. But it doesn't show up in Stellarium afterwards. Inspecting the log file, I discovered:
2.738][CRIT] Failed to find /index.json file in sky culture directory "hevelius"
So, it seems that this "hevelius" folder may be sort of outdated since it doesn't come with any json file that seems necessary from most recent versions.
Now, creating one from scratch does not seem easy. Is there any updated version?
