Should be noted that back in v19 I was using "Controller type: ws281x" and now there's a big ol' warning in v21 that says "not recommended or supported" - so I ask, in v21, when using ws2812b pixels where the data line is hooked to GPIO18 on the Pi, what controller type should I be using? |

Hi We still recommend one of these boards, which are almost problem-free and even have a built-in level shifter: https://github.com/awawa-dev/HyperSerialPico?tab=readme-ov-file#recommended-boards-with-a-built-in-level-shifter |

I had a Pi3b+ running HyperHDR 19 working for years. Some stupid reason I went and updated everything and it's all busted. I have scoured the documentation, the wiki, etc, but the instructions are all over the place. Maybe I'm just getting old.
I just want to go back to my simple Pi3b+, Amazon $20 Capture Card, and 283 WS2812b pixels. I'm willing to do HyperHDR 19 again just to get it working.
Can someone just confirm what I need? I'm so confused over the version of PiOS being 32 or 64, Bookworm vs Bullseye?
What is the simplest path to getting my Pi3b+ working without the Kernal Issue that awawa-dev was trying to get resolved?
FWIW, I did a Pi4/8GB with Bookworm and the APT version of HyperHDR working and I simply could not get my "Instance" to control the pixels. When I did this with a Pi3b+ years ago, I got it working immediately.
Which OS should I write to the SD card for Pi?
Which version/release of HyperHDR?
