How do you add a hidden filter?

I cannot figure out how to create a hidden filter. In the Hidden Item setting, under hidden filters I just see "No hidden filters". I thought maybe doing a search would create a filter I could then hide, or maybe hide items using tags but I can't see any options to do so.

Using v1.7.7 app-play-release.apk on a Pixel 6.

A filter can be an album, a tag, a format (like SVG), a type (like panoramas), etc. They look like this:

You can long-press a filter and select "hide". Try it out and don't hesitate if you have more questions.
