Thanks so much Gilles.

I do have several small patches on my side (including #2037 but also others small details),
I should be able to do a PR before the end of the week.

It would be good to fix the path expansion related issues (~, " ~", not working on recent OSX ...) (#2024 & #2022), I do have progress for some cases but the specific issue on OSX is persistent.

We do have a problem on OSX with the new readline (8.3), not only the one provided by Brew but also when compiled locally
(the GDL is just frozen at startup when linked with readline 8.3. no problem with 8.2.x ) (I have a partial fix for #2048 )
I have no idea how to debug that ! (could we force a given version temporary ?)

The script on OSX is unstable, but Gilles, don't loose time on that.

Then as a summary, a 1.2 would be great but several annoying pending known problems, some are quite simple, other ones not !

@alaingdl I've tested this on OSX, M1, with Brew up-to-date and there is NO problem with readline.

I doubt the "~" problem is important wrt. all the progresses made in the last months, so a 1.1.2 should be made as soon as possible.
