Annotations status?

I've also noticed that most your code is annotated. But:

• There's no mypy / other typechecker in CI
• There's no py.typed file to expose these annotations to end users

Can you please clarify the status of types in this project?

As you mentioned, there's currently no mypy or other static typechecker integrated into the CI.

IMHO, I think mypy could be helpful for automatic type checking; however, it tends to be quite slow, and I have low confidence in its ability to properly check types for libraries like Pytorch and Numpy, especially. (maybe it also needs an extra stub)

Additionally, I also believe typecheck with mypy may not be necessary for codebases that are well-managed with clear docstrings, type hints, and extensive test coverage. (Of course, we still cannot be sure it's perfect :) )

So, for now, I'm thinking of not using the static typechecker like mypy unless a better option comes along!
