Ah, this is an installation problem.

As I wrote in the document, you need to get src/screencast_keys directory from Screencast-Keys-master and put it on the addons directory.

I think I did same thing like in 3.6 and I was getting this error

Could you show me the file __init__.py?
I think your installed version is not newest.

The value of "version" needs to be (3, 12, 0).
