Pasting in the query box overwrites any content already there

Describe the bug
If I type in a partial query, then go to paste in some content, the original typed data is gone.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. a case
2. type a b c into the query box
3. paste any text into the query box
4. a b c is overwritten by the pasted text.
