Bangle.js screen corners yellowing. #7799
-
I got my bangle.js a week or two ago, and today I noticed that the corners of the screen were yellowing slightly. It didn't look like it was something shown on the display, so my guess is something happened with the display itself. Everything works fine, and it is not a very concerning issue. I want to know why, however, as it could be a sign of something more sinister like a battery issue. There has been over 60% humidity in my area for the past 4 days now, and lots of sun. I read somewhere that it could be water between the display layers, but I am not sure. I was not in the sun for very long, either. |

Sorry to hear this - yes, a photo would be really helpful. Had your Bangle been left out in the sun? I can't imagine a problem when you're wearing it, and the LCD display is usually fine up to around 90 degrees C (so pretty hot!) but when I've gone past that (eg trying to remove the screen using hot air) it can break/discolour the LCD. ... but that's very unlikely when you're wearing the watch - you'd notice if it got up past 90 degrees! If the LCD is still working at the edges (and it's just the color) and it was due to heat, it'll probably sort itself out in a day or two.
When that happens it's usually when there's a ton of water inside, and you can usually see actual circles/blobs where the water is sitting. It's not the kind of thing you'd get from over-zealous hand washing or 60% humidity - it'd have to have been submerged for a while :) Let's see what happens - if it gets to the point it's really noticeable we can arrange a replacement |

fwiw Often 90%+ humidity where I am -- 4-months-old Bangle2 has been fine thus far! |

Thanks for the picture! Do you think it's likely yours was always like that and you only noticed recently? I guess in most circumstances you never really get an entirely white screen.
I'm looking at ones I have here and I do see it's slightly off-color around the edges in some lighting (but seems better with the backlight on?). I think it's likely because the display is reflective, and so right at the edge the lighting conditions are a bit different because the black edging of the glass is in the way (maybe there's something internally that adds to the color tint).
If it's not getting any worse I'd say don't worry about it. To get a really low power reflective display there are definitely…
