Workspace dropdown doesn't work since last month

Hi everyone,

Not a big deal, but it was a very convenient switching workspaces using the dropdown button. Unfortunately that button does not work anymore. I didn't know if I should file a bug or it is just something has to do with the configuration.

You know, it is the button marked with green rectangle. When I click it, it does not react, nothing happens. It was showing a dropdown menu that lists the workspaces and allows me to switch before, but it does not do it any more. Should I file a bug or it might be related to the configuration? If you think it is the latter one, how could I fix it?

The workspace dropdown stopped working because it was intentionally changed in a recent update—not due to a configuration issue or bug. As of v1.13b, clicking the workspace button no longer opens the dropdown; instead, you now need to double-click the workspace name to switch workspaces. The single-click is reserved for a future feature, and there’s currently no setting or workaround to restore the old dropdown behavior. This change has affected all users and has been discussed as a regression by many in the community (source, source).

Oh my... Why is that @dosu? Also, double clicking the name triggers to edit name, it does not allow switching spaces.

The dropdown was intentionally removed in a recent update—single-click is now reserved for a future feature, but no replacement for the dropdown was provided, which has frustrated many users. Double-clicking the workspace name triggers rename/edit mode by design, not workspace switching, and this has always been the case in the codebase (source).

To switch workspaces now, you need to click the workspace icon/button in the sidebar (the row of workspace icons), use keyboard shortcuts (like cmd_zenWorkspaceForward/Backward), or use mouse gestures (back/forward buttons or horizontal scroll over the sidebar) (source). There’s no config or workaround to restore the old dropdown or enable double-click-to-switch. The team has hinted at future improvements, but for now, these are the only supported methods.
