This is an both a usable and example module for building a simple module. This module creates a config form with system variables, a block to display the config data, and themes the block using a proper template file.
Set a copyright owner, start year, phone number and address
Place block where your copyright is needed.
To override the template, copy the site-copyright.tpl.php file into your own theme and adjust as necessary.
